Today saw the final stage of “Business as Usual”, another fantastic project run by North Tyneside VODA. It explored the impact that WW1 had on local businesses, their staff and the community in North Shields. The project has involved students from Tyne Met College. They researched the topic to create the exhibition held today at St Columba’s Church.
The shop windows in Howard Street have also played a role. Old photos of North Shields, collected as part of the project, were exhibited. Each image was enlarged and printed to fill a window.
Shown here are just two of the windows used – ours at 67 Howard Street, and Independent Advocacy North East’s window at number 62.
There are more pictures to follow and you can read more about the project on the VODA website.
